Recent Projects

September 2016

I’m already hoovering up leaves that have blown into the shop – Autumn is here once more which always brings a torrent of work and I start getting asked to make door curtains again!

We’ve been involved with lots of great projects over the last couple of months – including curtaining and blinds for a beautiful new apartment in Strathmore house in Poundbury which has been in the press recently having been designed by Prince Charles to have the appearance of a miniature Buckingham Palace. It’s an extremely impressive building to say the least!

One job we particularly enjoyed included a pair of interlined Roman blinds and a matching lampshade in a beautiful Cabbages and Roses fabric. A collection of delicate floral designs all printed on linen – this fabric really suits older properties and the designs all incorporate a very delicate colour palette of muted greys, pinks, blues and purples perfect for bedrooms and sitting rooms. Price per metre starts at £47.

July 2016

July just flew by! It’s 1st August already but here’s a round up of what we were busy doing in July.

Sophie Rose Soft Furnishings packed up the shop (Gosh, we’ve got a lot of stock!) and attended both the Stoke Abbott Street Fair and Forde Abbey Summer Fair – both days a great success for everyone involved. The weather could not have been more perfect for Stoke Abbott and although we got off to a bit of a drizzly start at Forde Abbey, by the afternoon it was a scorcher!

We have added yet another beautiful British fabric collection to our library – Emily Burningham. A stunning range of distinctive linen fabrics designed and printed in England. Very special fabrics and a wonderful array of pattern and colour.

We had this gorgeous chair recovered for a customer in a Voyage Fabric (Simba – Citrus). Have a look at our upholstery page to see before pictures – quite a transformation!

We are in the middle of a complete house refurb at the moment; from curtain poles, to roller blinds, curtains, lampshades and cushions. The project is due middle August – when we’ll take final photographs to show all of our fabrics and soft furnishings working together in situ – looking forward to seeing the end result!

June 2016

We have had another busy month working with lots more beautiful fabrics. Roman blinds have been our most popular request this month – always a practical and economical yet stylish alternative to curtains.  We have also booked our stall for the first time at Stoke Abbott Street Fair on 16th July from 2pm. We will be taking with us a variety of stock and a taster of the fabrics we sell – we hope to see some of you their. It’s a great afternoon out for family – have a look at their Facebook page: STOKE ABBOTT STREET FAIR

One of our favourite jobs this month: A pair of large lampshades made in a stunning velvet by Voyage from their Myanmar Collection, complete with orange pom-pom trim. They looked amazing!

May 2016

After our visit to April Interiors held at Cheltenham Racecourse at the end of last month, we are thrilled to have become stockists of Blendworth fabrics and Byron&Byron Curtain Poles. We have also become stockists of Elanbach fabrics who offer a wonderful range of printed linens full of colour and quirky designs.

April 2016

Another month of interesting projects and beautiful fabrics… We are currently working with  a variety of Charlotte Gaisford fabrics which are being used to furnish the most gorgeous caravan for a local ‘glamping site’ – photographs to follow soon!

Susie Watson has definitely taken the designer of the month award in our studio, with over 50m ordered already for various projects – a really lovely classic collection of printed, plain and striped linens. Great quality and many fabrics available in double width up to 300cm wide. Our studio has the full collection on display, so pop in and have a look.

And finally, on the 25th April we are off to April Interiors at Cheltenham Racecourse to find lots of great new fabrics and interior inspiration. We cannot wait!

March 2016

The first week of March has been all about Roman blinds. A popular choice in functional areas; kitchens, utility rooms etc. They are both a practical and an economical choice. All of our blinds are hand sewn and interlined fitted to chain driven cassette head rails which are extremely easy to fit and operate  when compared to corded version. Can be fitted inside or outside of the window recess and can be blackout lined for use in bedrooms and nurseries.

February 2016

We have had a super busy month refurbishing holiday cottages, pubs and even a Shepherds hut! We have also starting working with three amazingly talented designers with all their fabulous fabrics designed and printed in the UK. Charlotte Gaisford, Bon Maison and Abigail Borg offer the most wonderful collection of fabrics from the traditional to all out quirky neon – links to their websites on our home page. Our shop is now fully stocked with GraceMary chalkpaints (made in Dorset and Somerset) – a lovely range of non-toxic chalk based paints in 26 charming colours.

As we have now expanded across two studio’s our retail space has doubled and we are continuously adding to the range of home accessories we offer – well worth a visit if you’re looking for something unique and a little different. Bohemian brights meet country living!

June 2015 – Lampshades and Throws

Sophie Rose Soft Furnishings now stock a beautiful collection of throws and lampshades. We have a selection of beautiful drum lampshades in our studio starting from £22.00. Lampshades can also be made to order.

May 2015

Sophie Rose Soft Furnishings has already been super busy this month. A job recently completed comprised of two pairs of pencil pleat lined curtains and a matching single door curtain. The beautiful light linen fabric with floral design replaced existing curtains which were very dark in comparison. The new curtains lightened the whole room creating a much brighter living space.

Fun sheep fabric bench cushion and matching bolsters with piping and cover buttons. Perfect for dressing up an old garden bench, just in time for summer sun.

January 2015

Happy New Year

Lots of projects coming up over the next few months and later this month I will be attending a two day course in Hampshire learning how to make lampshades and  a variety of pelmets. Very excited to be able to offer coordinating light shades in the future! A brilliant way to use remnants left over from previous curtaining projects and a perfect way to revive a favourite lamp base.
